They've given me a list of all the places that do blood tests in my area and told me to just turn up from around 8 in the morning. The ECG test is being done by the nurse at my doctors surgery. I suppose I should just ask when I turn up?

Better turn up early in the morning as the blood tests will require fasting (eat or drink nothing besides a minimal amount of water starting at midnight the morning before your test)
The test MAY require fasting, however many labs have moved away from fasting lipid tests. |

This isn't necessarily the case. The OP should check with the lab or their GP.

I had a whole heap of blood taken a few weeks ago for analysis and didn't need to fast, my wife had some completely different tests at the same place and did need to fast. Hence, my comment to speak to the place taking the blood to get a definitive answer as to what they want based on the blood test being performed instead of taking random advice from an online forum. |
