Do you have to wait for...
Hi all,
I was reading a the Australian & New Zealand magazine and an article in there about a couple who have moved to Oz and who have just been granted permenant residence but, and I may be wrong here, it read like they had only been in Oz for a year or two.
I thought that you could only apply for PR after 4 years - but can you apply sooner? or is it just that they arrived before the law was changed from two to four years?

I am applying for a defacto spouse visa and I believe that that is temporary for 2 years before you get reassessed for permenant residence.
So what does citizenship give you that PR doesn't?

PR on the other hand means that it expires eventually (usually after 5 years for skilled) and cant vote.
Citizenship obviously gives you more a sense of belonging in my opinion rather than just a pom on a British Passport. Citizenship is also required for some government jobs.
