Default Do U.K. car stereos work in Oz?

I know this might initially sound like a dumb question, but I asked someone today from the auto trade the same question and they said the radio might not work if Australia uses different broadcasting frequencies.

Another thing I was wondering is if their in-car audio wiring is different to ours?

Thought I would ask in case anyone had taken one over there and fitted it in an Australian car.

I brought my car over from Japan, and the radio doesn't work too well. I can only get one station. I never really looked into getting it fixed, as we tend to listen to CDs anyway.

Cheers.

I gave you karma which was meant to say "many thanks", but I think I sent you "na" instead, pressed the wrong key.

Japanese FM radios pick someting like 75-88MHZ, Australian radio is something like 85-105MHz. This is very similar to UK so I would be surprised if a radio from the UK wouldn't work here.

Do you have a CD player in the car? You can get podcasts from Radio 1 and burn them to CD to listen on the way to work

I've got Netgear MP101 MP3 player hooked up to my hi-fi at home so I can listen to Radio 1 live on t'internet

Yeah, they'll work fine. Like someone else said, the FM band is slightly different over here. Also there is no RDS over here, so no radio names and traffic programs !
