Default Do people want to work in Perth!!

I put a job advert in the west on saturday, for call centre work and promotional work for the company i work for.
In total I had 11 phone calls and booked 6 of them in for interviews today.
Only one person turned up and the other 5 didnt even bother to phone to let me down.
Makes you wonder

It might be because call centre work is pretty terrible, it usually means having to sell something or having to deal with lots of idiots or perhaps cold calling people. Call centre work can mean different things but either way you spin it, it is pretty crap work and most people would only do it if they had to.

I expect thats why you havent had many applications, rather than the whole of perth not wanting work like your title sugests.
Offer some decent well paid work and you will get a different response

Like you said, someone has to do it. Maybe they're all interviewing at Chevron for the Gorgon Project.

I think that is the root of the problem you are facing. Different jobs cater for different demographic hence certain attitude towards work and life in general. The job you posted would be for the unskilled, low wage and maybe teenage to younger aged demographics.
