Do Migration agents help??
 

To anybody,could you please help me.We went to migration agents CONCEPT AUSTRALIA and payed our first fee of £500 because they said we should have no trouble getting in even though I did not have city and guilds in my trade but that didn't matter if I could prove my training..Since then they have rejected my skills assessment 3 times saying "ITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH"I really feel they don't want to help but still took our money in the 1st place.Any helpfull coments welcome..Has anybody else used them under the same circumstances????

I have to disagree with you on this one. Concept Australia were fantastic with us, and I too was a bit daunted by the amount of information required for the skills assesment. My skills assesment was actually about 20 A4 pages long, it has to be incredibly detailed, you virtually have to detail what you did in every month or so of your apprenticeship/training. If previous employers are proving difficult, then offer to do all the writing of the assesment for them, then get them to print it out on their letterheads and sign it, after reading it, and agreeing with it, of course.

We couldnt fault Concept Australia, they were superb, but you have to be prepared to do loads of work yourself. Its a good way of sorting out who's serious about migrating, and who's not.

Can't comment on your specific circumstances but the agent I used was very helpful in feedback during my skills assessment (RPL/ACS) process.

I would hope that Concept Australia are providing more feedback than just "It's Not Good Enough". All I can suggest is ask them for more specific feedback and treat it like a thesis or other professional document in the way you approach it.

The skills assessment is for many people harder than the actual visa.

I know for myself it was quite a challenge at first to get back into the mode of writing a long dissertation style document, when I reread my first attempt I was shocked as to how bad it was.

Very true, you cannot write too much detail into your skills application, Less than a couple of sheets of A4 and you've not done enough. Describe every tool you use and what you use it for. How you do the job why thing are done that way etc.etc. To put it in a nutshell the guy who is reading you skills assessment should be able to go and do your job following your written statement as a beginners guideline.
Take a look at the link below it's for a Canadian skills assessment site. I used it as the basis of my application bulked out by descriptions of tools and setting out procedures etc. Our agent recommended it as there's no Australian equivalent.

You're paying for a service here so ask the agent exactly why it's not good enough and what you can do to rectify it.

We used O E Visas -

included in their fee was the skills of a specialist "Skills" man ( He happened to be in Perth ) who did all our TRA for us - we wrote down the basics of what Ste did for a living and he came up with a fantastic - several - page report ( which we and Ste's boss approved... ) which gained our TRA first time - we also got our Skilled independant visas through in 4 months - record!!!!

I don't agree that you should have to put in all the effort and do the running - that's what you pay and seek the help of a registered migration agent for - it worked for us and we would recommend OE Visas definatley......

We are using an agent to help with our application. And I have to say they have been very helpful.

My original Stat Dec for the TRA application was about 7 pages A4, which I though was quite complete, my agent made me redo it correctly which increased it up to around 16 pages. Without them we probably would have failed the TRA assessment, so I have to say - Yes - agents are worth it and they do help.

We went with Global Visa's and they too said my ACS Assessment was not good enough so i kept adding to it and they where right.
we got the assessment and now have the visa
they are just doing there job ...

I would say it depends on what skill it is, my husband is a CNC technician and it's not easy writing up what he has got to do. In fact after being together for nearly 4 years I still struggle when someone asks me "what does your husband do?"

Our agent gave us loads of help but the actual writing was up to us. They have had a look at it and given us any advice needed.

We used Sue from Ian Harrop. My other half is a brickie. There is NO WAY we could have done the TRA without her. She sent me an example of another brickie's TRA job description and also a sample reference letter and I used them to do Mark's. If you are paying them they should tell you what to put in the docs. They know what has to be included to pass the TRA so why aren't they helping you ? I'd phone and demand some more detailed information. Not many people applying for this would know how much detail to include and what is really expected in these documents, if they did, agents wouldn't be needed. Hope you sort it out.
