i am in the uk. i got my aussie licence 2 years ago on validation trip.

it is a qld one

i bought the 5 year one.

im going to live in sydney for 6 months in august when i finally move to australia then on to brisbane

do i have to swap it for a nsw one?

if so when?

and do i get to keep the qld one or at least the years that are left on it or both?

Check the RTA website for the rules, but quite possibly yes as your stay exceeds 3 months.

You can't have two Australian licences at the same time. As to whether NSW will give you credit for time on your QLD licence - once again, http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au will give you all the information you need.

apparently they will credit the extra time to your licence

and i will need to as ill be there for over 3 months
