Smile DIY Superstores - Sydney

Hi,

I'm looking for a big DIY superstore in Sydney, something like a B&Q?

Any ideas?

We're in Mosman, so anywhere close to there would be great.

Ooh I can answer one! You need Bunnings. I know there is one at Chatswood and one at Artarmon, not too far from you.

Yes, you need a Bunny’s Hore House or a Mitre 10

There is also one at Warringah Mall (my fave shopping centre) over the spit bridge in Brookvale (about 8k).

I thought the one we went to was not very consumer-friendly, more for tradies. Is there anything more like a B&Q or Homebase, where useless people like me can get advice?

Have you been to the Bunnings at Artarmon. I find them really helpful there....
It's on Reserve Road and not too far for you from Mosman?

So you want somewhere where the staff are useless as well as being unfriendly to customers.

More seriously. Don't write off a chain because of 1 store. Here we have 2 Bunning within about 15 mins. One is friendly the other less so.

Oh no, sorry, not suggesting for a minute that the staff were unfriendly. They didn't have what we needed but went to great lengths to tell The Geek where to try, complete with directions.

It was the place itself that wasn't as fluffy and consumer-friendly as most UK DIY places I've been in. Based on my local ones near Leeds I would say Bunnings is more Wickes than Homebase, but then it's a long time since I've been in a DIY shop so could be well out of date. The Geek and I are not the most practical of people (shame on me, my Dad was a builder) so are easily intimidated.

I'm just grateful to have any at all. In Singapore hardly anbody DIYs; why DIY when you can pay a Bangladeshi or a Nepalese guy a couple of dollars to do it for you?

My experience of the staff at Bunnings is that it is faster to find stuff yourself rather than disturb their chat sessions.
