Default Diving in Perth

Has anyone been Scuba diving or does anyone belong to a dive club north of the river? Been here for a hectic 5 wks now and just starting to get ''Qualitytime'' on our hands.

Taking the girls jet-sking today, got a 1/2 hour slot booked.

Thinking of horse riding at Yanchep stables.

Anyones experiance on these appreciated.

Murray Reefs
A line of reefs off mandurah offer interesting dives down to 6m. residents include rock lobsters, jewfish, samsonfish, and a large number of reef fish. the remains of the JAMES SERVICE a 3 masted barque which ran around in 1878 can be found over most of the southern reef in the group

5 Fathom Bank
5 fathom runs parallel to the coast for about 30ks. it's also quite shallow at depths down to 12m but provides excellent diving. numerous caves and ledges covered with ascidians, sponges and soft corals and residents include wobbegongs (see "creatures of the deep by linda lushardi for more info on these critters!), and octopi (the OCDs of the deep!). the wrecks of the CARLISLE CASTLE and ORIZABA can be found, the orizaba is still easly recognisable as a wreck and is 140m long!

Seal Island
great place to swim with aussie lea lions. good for photos and playing around with!

Rottnest Island
Sits 18km west of perth. well worth a visit altho can get v bust with around 1000 people visiting a week (so i'm led to believe!). most sights on the island are shallow reefs with plenty to explore and see, however roe reef will see you good down to around 25m.

Hi guys

Let me know what you think of Yanchep Stables. Sam was going to take Maryann but someone told her it wasn't that good and the safety helmets were just thin plastic things.

Hi Andy & Kim

We use these guys

http://www.divingfrontiers.com.au/

They are not a dive club as such but do regular dive trips and have the occasional BBQ and drinks at the shop. You can find them on Erindale Road, Balcatta.

SCUBA2 are the best dive club in Perth, they're not affiliated to a school and their dive trips are not all about "how many crays did you catch?" like most.

Me and the mrs are members

Web site is pretty crap, but here it is: http://www.scuba2.asn.au/
