Dishwashers.
 

We have had a Fisher & pykle Dishwasher inour rental and I'm not all that pleased with it! We are moving into our own place soon and will be on the market for one. Can anybody reccomend one that they have bought and are happy with.

Well I am not happy with our dishwashes at present - not worked for last 2 weeks or so......




and still costing me money......


bloody daughter hasn't been able to wash the post now as her hand was bandaged up after an accident - still it's on the mend now though :D

Our rental has a Fisher & Pykle one and we cannot rave about it enough. It's basically 2 machines in one, has 2 separate drawers so you can wash one lot of stuff on 'delicate' and one lot on 'heavy' (or whatever setting) at the same time ... excellent!

Will DEF be getting one for our place if we're ever lucky enough to buy!

btw, Fisher and Paykel has a very good reputation. They are New Zealand made and considered to be among the best in the world.

We have a Bosch & it works well. The only issue we have with it is that it uses a lot of dishwasher salt. Is this to do with the softer water here?

I haven't been able to find dishwasher salt here. A lady in Coles had never heard of it so I just assumed Australian dishwashers didn't use it. I brought mine from the UK. Where do you buy your salt?

Go to Bunnings & buy a 25kg bag of pool salt. It costs about 5 bucks & will last forever.

We bought LG from Good guys $900 - works great. had it 2 years now.

We tried all the different dishwasher powders and cheap ones dont wash well so we always buy powerball - more expensive but good.

We've got one of those things. In go the dirty dishes and out come nice clean ones it's made by Electrolux I've never looked inside I just assumed a midget lived in there and we fed him scraps :confused:

Hi I'm a Service Technician

In England I worked for Bosch, Neff and Siemens Domestic Appliances who I would recommend highly as I would Miele and Asko.

In Australia I now work for Fisher and Paykel and their Dishdrawer is very good - The "normal" dishwashers are made elsewhere ie: NOT NZ.

The Salt question is answered by looking at dishwashers that are made specifically for the Australian which have no container for salt as the water is soft enough, remembering that the salt only cleans the water softener - It plays no part in the wash cycle

Yes, I was surprised to see that they use salt on the West Coast. Family who have dishwashers for over 30 years on the East coast have never used salt. And I certainly don't use it in mine.

re. Bosch dishwashers here in Oz - I am not as happy with mine (@ $1450) as I was with the last one I inherited in a house in the UK (at the time it was 7 years old and we then had it for another 8 years). Could it be that the ones out here are made in Asia and not subject to the same stringent quality controls as the EU?

We have one of those and it has been very good so far. Only problem we had was the tablet type powder things we had from our last place don't fit in the powder holder thingy, so we're now using normal powder. Are there smaller tablets that you can use?

Yeah I was tempted to snap those little lugs off but it's not ours, so we're using powder now.

I never use the compartment: I just throw the tablet in the bottom of the dishwasher!

I could very well be wrong but think the whole point of the trap door is the tablet or powder is released at the right time.

Where's that Neil, he'll know how it all works?

Hi Again

The detergent compartment opens at the begining of the main wash cycle - if you put the tablet in the bottom of the machine at the begining of the cycle then the machine may do a cold pre-rinse first and the detergent could be wasted

Dishdrawers (Fisher & Paykel)are designed to use powder only that is why the pegs are there to stop you using tablets
