Direct entry Midwives

Hi
Am contemplating the move with my family to Oz.

Just a quick question, To work in Perth do you have to be a Nurse/ Midwife or do they accept direct entry Midwives with no nurse training?

I have posted this onto the Nursing forum as well.

Any help is appreciated

direct entry is fine

try looking on www.studentmidwives.co.uk, they have a section on "international midwifery" where the process has been discussed.

yes direct entry is absolutely fine. I think they like uk midwives direct entry or not as they are trained to a high standard and encompass woman centred care. Go for it!

Thanks for you replys, have contacted a couple of hospitals and no concerns from them.

One more small question, honest,

Do the NMBWA register direct entry midwives or does it have to be done through another nursing board and then transfer over?

Thanks again

not sure but i think its the same nurse board for all, nurses or midwives. though there may be a different application form to fill in. Contact them direct. Good luck with it all.
