Hi can anyone help???

Not really put a thread on this site before (but read up on all the subjects that come on).

We got our visa in august & in middle of selling our house so if all goes well we should be in Oz for new year!!! SO EXCITED

We are in a big dilemma, as to were we want to live! my sis lives in NSW (between Gosford & Newcastle), my ex-hubby (yes sounds strange but we all get on great) he is moving to Brisbane on 24th October.

I dont want to be too close to my sis (i want my own space) but we will be going straight to my sisters then we will be looking for a place & work (I am a Painter & Decorator by trade so any help on jobs out there or any sites to look on would be a great help).

My ex says house prices in NSW are a lot more expensive because it is near Sydney (well kind of), but further up the coast (Gold-coast) prices are much cheaper.

I dont want to upset my sis if i decided to move away from her, as she thinks we are moving literally next door (i have 2 niece's & i have a daughter) but i want to hopefully be able to rent then buy.

We said we might get to my sisters then maybe have a week up on the gold coast to see what it is like. My main thing is to get a job & get the most for our money.

I think you may think by reading this thread that i have already made up my mind to move away for my sis! but i thought someone out there can give me some ideas/knowledge of the areas

If anyone can comment on NSW/Gold-coast, jobs etc we would most appreciate this.

Port Macquarie every time mate. Gorgeous place, with fabulous beaches, and hinterland in the backdrop.

4 hours north of Sydney/7 hours south of Brissie - nice climate.

The other thing about Port is it not too big, but with enough commerce for employment (especially in your trade) and facilities/services for your fam.
