Re: Digital DAB radio?
DAB hasn't really happened in Aus yet so you probably wouldn't find any stations anyway! However, it is coming, but is going to be using a different format to UK DBA radio so your UK one won't work here....one for eBay!

Re: Digital DAB radio?
Just FYI, if you would like to continue with Digital Radio from the air rather than internet or set top box:
DAB+ is being introduced in Australia from January '09, starting in the big cities. Unfortunately, it is not backwards-compatible with DAB, so your unit will be useless. DAB+ is a far superior medium (and will probably replace DAB in the UK in the near future too.)
Big.

Re: Digital DAB radio?
The digital radio i had in the UK which is now in Australia has a facility to download updates from the manufacturers website.
I used it and it's very simple via a usb port
I'm not sure if their technology will allow an update to DAB+ and how long before that format is available throughout Australia
If you have the same brand(Pure) i wouldn't get rid of until more info is available.

Re: Digital DAB radio?
I telephoned PURE and spoke to tech support some months ago.
I was told that my DAB radio will NEVER work in Australia, because they've decided to go with DAB+ technology which is not compatible with my lovely DAB radios that I currently have in my home. They also said that there are NO plans for the UK to move over the DAB+ in the future, which means if I buy one in Aus it will be useless in the UK should decide to up sticks again ...
I was disappointed, but not devastated and have decided to invest in internet radio instead, as DAB+ will take a good while to take off in Aus and also Aus radio is DIRE, so I will be tuning to World service and Radio 4 online... I believe listen again will be my fav feature..... I doubt very much that Aus radio has improved much over the past couple of years, bad language on the breakfast show and naff DJ's etc. etc. ... unless anyone knows better???
