There seems to be a pre migration shopping list developing....

1. Bedding, quilts, pillows etc.
2 Good Egyptian Cotton Towels
3.Kitchen equipment..... (although this doesn't include me as I already own, a fab selection!)

Any other suggestions are gratefully received!

Weirdly, I put marmite, then deleted it as I have been told you can get it.... I didn't see it in QLD at all while we were there, so I guess it's specialist shops that do it!

However, it will save you some hassle if you just pack it to bring!!!

we've put new quilts n pillows ect in our container and not been charged but customs have picked up on 3 of the kids fancy shaped duck feather pillows,a set of bongo's and a sack of dog food which we have had to pay to have them destroyed....bit of a bleeding cheek when my mate brought the bongo's back from australia to start with
oh well our containers due at our house at 7am in the morning and we can't bloody wait.

Hmmm... Duck shaped pillows? What are they then?

Will make a point of washing and using all new products at least once!

Why did you take a sack of dog food???
As for the bongo drums... madness, utter madness!

So, don't they have Dog food in Aus?

Nah, if I'd got a bag of dry food I'd have slung it in too. Did you declare it or did they 'find' it?

Out of interest who did you use to ship your dog... I'm having a mare trying to go it alone... the airlines won't even speak to me!

my hubby bought a load of new tools before we came over and most of them we didnt use as we kept on worrying about having ot cleanthem properly. When our shippers came over to estimate our move they told us to rough up the boxes. Easiest way we found was to skate about on the wooden floors and patio with them, it was great fun but the neighbours thought wewere bonkers. They also suggsted using tape to "fake" reinforcing the corners and sealing the boxes down with different coloured tape. WE had about 10% of our boxes opened including fomr of the tool boxes and didnt get stung for any new things that we didnt state on our firm. Im pretty sure we only said new dishwasher when we filed inthe form.

I have to say that I've kept the boxes of everything that I've bought over the last 5 years, with the exception of the two televisions we've bought as the boxes were too big to fit up the loft hatch!!!
Should I be throwing the boxes out of an upstairs window to 'rough 'em up'?

Nah aparantly the other way they check is to look at the actual plug and if it looks used then it gets through. Dont know if its actually true though

I'm sat here, thinking.. I don't have anything like that! Then I take a look at the fireplace and realise that I have a small drum we got from India last year... so that will be donated to my sister then!

There's been some talk about daggers and swords being confiscated. Please tell me that my kitchen knives will be OK to take with me!!!
