Default did you hand in notice before visa?

Hi Guys
Did anyone hand their notice in before their visa arrived?
I really want to do it now, and we have been told we will "recieve a letter shortly" but I'm worried, what if something goes wrong:scared:

What did you do?

I'd appreciate any info
Thanks

When do you expect to get your visa? We have also sold our house and are renting at the moment. But I'm a bit nervous about handing in my notice before the visa arrive

I told my boss last year that we intended to leave.
We arranged an intended date for departure and worked it around that.
He was fine about it because he knew i'd be leaving on or around that date.
Then, once Ann-Marie's visa came back i handed in my notice officially.

Paul.

As long as they know you are leaving and you can still give the required notice then i don't think i would hand it in just yet.
Tempting fate and all that.

Back when I thought I was going to be leaving, I was all set to hand in my notice before getting my spouse visa sorted. As it turned out, my mum got sick two weeks before I was due to hand in my notice, so I'm very glad I didn't!

I'd be inclined to wait until you've got that magic letter, just in case. BUt forewarning your employers is a good plan, if they are the kind of empolyers who will accept that.

Thanks for your replies.....my employers do know that I'm planning to leave so no probs there. I think I will wait and hope the visa arrives in the next couple of weeks, we lodged the application 14 months ago, so waiting a bit longer won't make much difference

good luck to all of you who are waiting patiently

When do you intend leaving UK? Have you got your visa already?

Case Officers usually advise you to do nothing until you actually have you visa.

Things can go wrong.

See Bundy's post.
I hope nothing happens but you never know.
There is no real rush is there? After all you will have already waited a fair while.

Not really, just had a kinda plan to have a weeks holiday at the end of Aug after finishing at work, then head off to Melbourne 2nd/3rd week in Sept
But your right...I would be worring in case anything did go wrong:scared:
I just wait and see what happens.
Thanks

Hi Little miss c,

No visa as yet, but shouldn't be too long, hopefully. My work references have been checked. We haven't sold the house either yet, but because I'm pregnant, I had to make a decision. Travelling was getting a bit much, an hour each way, and I never see the kids, so I thought, in for a penny and all that.
Luckily enough, we can suffice with hubby's wages alone for a little while, and then there's always the in-laws!!!!
