Okay, we are planning our trip. For those in Mackay region...which Airport should we aiming for Brisbane or Cairns?
Up until now we have just assumed Brisbane but I gather Cairns is slightly closer to Mackay City.

Have family very close to Mackay and always fly from Brisbane with Virgin Blue. Not 100% sure but think the connections from the UK to Brisbane maybe both cheaper and also more frequent than flying into Cairns. Also the connections for internal flights may also be better from Brisbane. Hope this helps, are you going into the mines in Mackay??

Much wider flight choice if you come into Brisbane. WHen we book flights Cairns-Mackay for people at work, we often have to route them via Brisbane anyway!
