Designated area sponser- how long
Sent our main application today for designated area sponser (melbourne). We heard that at present its approx 4- 6 months is this about right. We sent all our meds and police checks away with the application hoping this would save a bit of time-does this help any or does it not matter. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks Paul

Hi Paul
We went family sponsored - so a bit different to you.
I think the time line is about right. You could check the immigration website and have a look.
The only problem with front loading with the meds and police checks is if it goes over the year, then you have to redo them. But this won't matter if the times you've got are right.
Best of luck
Jo

Yes, it can help Paul, as it means your case officer should be able to simply ask for completion of form 1022 and for the lodgement of the Bonds by your Assurer.
Jo has mentioned the impact of obtaining medicals and police reports on your required initial entry date (also discussed here:
http://www.gomatilda.com.au/visas/faqs.cfm#06).
Good luck!
