Dependent full time student question?
Hi,
We have a daughter who is in full time education in a TAFE college, does anyone know if she is entitled to any kind of financial assistance, while studying?
She came over with us on a STNI visa.

She ought to be paying domestic fees as a PR. However the rules are:
- for tertiary fee deferral/discount, PRs are ineligible other than in exceptional circumstances. She needs to take out Australian citizenship
- there is a welfare payment to students called Austudy. Centrelink website has details. Citizenship not required, however there is normally a 2 year waiting period if a PR.

Yes have checked Centrelink as you suggested, and saw the 104 week waiting period for new migrants under Austudy.....which really is too late anyway!
Will pass the info onto my daughter.....
