Dental Question
Hi
We hope to be moving to Perth around Sept. this year. Our 9 year old daughter has been told that she needs a dental brace, however the NHS waiting list is 12 months. Obviously this means we're going to either have to go private over here in the UK or wait until we get to Oz. With this in mind, could any of you kind folk out there advice us as to which would be the best option ie cheapest :D Cheers Steve |

If you have a medical plan then you can claim back about $1500. Our family medical plan is about $155/month. Ian |

Ian It's not 4000 it cost about 6,500 for our 12 yo Daughter ... However one thing concerns me... @ 9 years of age shouldnt they be using this method.... http://www.nobraces.com.au/?x=thecentre My son is having this treatment at present, he is 9 thats why I mentioned it. Cost about 7,000 for him. We are having our kids treated here... http://www.cosmeticdentistmelbourne.com.au/ The buggers are charging me for follow up treatment on my Daughter now that the braces are off, Like cleaning and glueing fissures. Buggers are worse than loan sharks. Boy I get pissed orf when I drive away in my Datsun 120Y and look back at their Porsches and Audi TT's.... Not Jealousy but I feel ripped off... Like I'm paying for a few months payments on their cars. |

I'm so sorry it's costing you so much but it's only $4000 with my dentist for my 13-year-old son.
I've spent around 16 K on my kids, however I've had rebates from insurance and income tax over the last 24-30months. There have been a couple of threads on this subject. I debated throwing in a trip to the UK to get the kids treated... Turned out it wasn't viable because the Orthodontist here would take the UK braces off and put their own ones on. |

Ian Unfortunately we're going to be moving to Perth before we move far enough up the waiting list for free treatment in the UK, so its a case of pay for it over here, or wait til we're in Oz and pay there Steve |

I seem to remember on previous threads mention of people going to Thailand for dental treatment, as standards were very high but the costs much much cheaper. Is this true and would you risk it with childrens treatment. cheers Steve |
