Default Dental Cover

It seems that the majority of Private Health Care Schemes don't cover dental treatment, so what do most people do about dental treatment?

We are thinking of taking out one of the INMAN plans, but only the most expensive plan includes dental cover.

What do people do generally about dental care.......just pay in full for individual treatments, as and when they are required?

All "Extras" cover includes dental - but the amount you can claim in any one year is limited, and you only get back a small part of what you actually pay.

Medibank Private "Advantage Plus" has no limit on general dental (check-ups, extractions, etc), $400-$800 on Endodontic (whatever that is) and $2000 for Major Dental (dentures, crowns, periodontic, etc. This together with comprehensive hospital cover and other benefits (optical etc) will cost around $145/month. Cost varies with age and where you live.

I needed Root canal done, had the first stage done $275 all in, including x-rays. Unfortunately due to complications i had to see a specialist yesterday to complete stage 2....$1700

They should wear striped jumpers and balaclavas....
