Demand for Java Web developers in Sydney
 
Hi,
I am currently working as a software engineer in Boston. My specialized areas are Core Java, Spring Framework, FreeMarker, CSS, HTML and JQuery.
I am very pleased to know the current technology trends and skills in demand in Sydney, Australia.
I hope large number of software engineers using this forum. Please share your thoughts.

The demand is for heavy-back end work e.g. JBoss/WebSphere/Glassfish plus select your DB of choice and mix in plenty of Web Services.

Do you have experience with those kind of things ?

Yes. I have been working in web based financial software development (Stock Trading). We have been using JBoss 4.X, WebSphere 6.X and Jetty ( specially for web streaming ). Also I have 5+ years working experience in Oracle 10g. We didn't use Web Services as much since we had to go with RMI ( remote method invocation ) in most of cases.
