You don't need as much evidence as for Part 1, and probably not a medical - although they do send a list out which has certain countries on it - if you have visited those, you need a fresh medical. Also, if you have returned to your home country they may need a fresh police check. I had been back to the UK and had to get a new check from there. You will need an Aus police check - they can take 1-2 months to come through, so apply in good time!

Your existing part 1 - temp residence visa - covers you until "a decision is made to grant or refuse PR status". Then all you have to do is send or take in your passport to have the visa sticker inserted. For those of us that started on Prospective MArriage visas,a nd so have done this THREE times it means a lot seeing the words "leave to stay indefintely" in the passport at last

Hi,

What are the forms required for Australian police check? for part 2 of spouse sub class:309?Do they need Australian police checks for spouse sub class:309?Can we apply for Australian police check before receiving the part 2 forms from DIMA?How to apply for these Australian police check?

Thanks,

Probably a stupid question but how do DIMIA know where to send the forms for the second part of the spouse visa? We have over a year to go but were we supposed to tell them where we now live in Oz? I assume they have ways and means of finding you anyhoo

It says on the letter they send when granting the 1st stage that you must keep them informed about your address

You can apply for your Australian police checks using THIS FORM and yes you do need an Australian police check for part two of the spouse visa. Instructions on how to apply are on the form.

Please don't be so impatient - there is no need to repeat your question

You need to inform them of your new address. Form 929 is the one you need

Thanks,

We didn't have an interview, just submitted the paperwork and waited (for 6 months ). Once the letter came through approving PR I went into the DIMIA office in central Sydney and was in and out within 15 minutes with a shiny new visa in my passport!
