Talking Defacto application

My partner and I would like to apply under the general skilled visa.I am a primary school teacher and my partner has no qualification. If I am the main applicant, does he still have to pass the points test?Or does he just need to meet the English language and health checks etc?
Cheers

Hi
My partner is a primary school teacher and we applied under the general skilled visa catagory with her as the main applicant.
Only the main applicant has to pass the points test and the spouse ie me in this case didn't have to do anything except pass the Police and Medical tests.
Thank god for Teachers !!

Don't ask me because we were one of the last we be handled by the Australian High Commission in London and Canbarra before they moved the ASPC to Adelaide.

We sent off the Skills test to NOOSR in March 2001
Received NOOSR Cert. in Aug 2001
Sent Application to AHC Sept 2001
PR Visa granted Feb 2003.
Total over 2 years.

Don't worry as these days they seem to take less then 6 months !

Regards

emmag are you married to the main applicant as you just said partner

if you are then everything is fine but if you are not you have to prove your relationship is a long and lasting one

and i think you have to get married within the first couple of years of migrating

we had to get testamoinals from our friends and relatives and send pictures and proof of the relationship

hope this helps

Yeah they tell you all that.
We weren't married at the time and supplied holiday snaps and letters etc and it was fine. Although by the time we were granted the visas and seeing it took so long we had already married. This cause more problems as my wife who was the main applicant changed her name !!

Yeah we did ... but they are expensive and if you are prepared to get stuck in to the paperwork and you don't find it too scary then you will be fine without. As everyone on this forum is very helpful and have been through it all before and it's easy when you know how.
Unfortunately I didn't find out about this site until our visas were granted so I felt alone all those years !!
