Default Decent sized house with pool

Is it possible to find a decent(3 bedroom) sized house, with pool, in low crime area, within 50k of CBD, in any of the 4 major cities, for around $350,000 ?

I have only looked at Melbourne as this is where we are heading. There are lots of areas in the west that would have a very decent sized three bed. None really have pools but if you find a good sized plot one can be put in for 25k plus.

Have a look at realestate.com.au

No, I want a house with garden, car park, safe neighbourhood. Good point, I don't mind how far I am away, just as long I'm not in middle of nowhere on my own and need shops nearby for essentials.

I think that the good/bad suburb question that is applicable and important in UK is not so relevant in Australia. My suburb for example at the moment has on the market the most expensive waterfront property (12 Million), numerous expensive gated estates with multi million dollar mansions, and other very desirable houses. But also it has 2 long stay caravan parks whose occupants on the whole are not so desirable. Burglary can happen any time anywhere in any suburb so security precautions are the best way to avoid that heart breaking occurence. I think there is no substitute for choosing a general area and then doing the legwork of driving round to see what suits your own needs best.

It is "Do able" here in Adelaide perhaps look south around Woodcroft downwards.

Not sure on the northern suburbs ,I sure that nice Wendy will tell you all about them.

Don't forget to add in stamp duty to your calculations.!!

Here I am

My house is on a 911 meter block, it is a 3 bed house, with a 30 foot swimming pool. It takes approx 40 minutes to get to the city by bus, half hour by car. I have a woolworths supermarket 5 minutes away, there is a Foodland, McDonalds, Pizza Shop, Chicken Shop, Chemist, Doctors and a pub right across the street. The primary and upper schools are only 2 minutes away.

It cost me $237k in April. Looking at around $280 - $300k now.
Plenty more suburbs like that up here too, but there's plenty of dearer ones as well.

If you want a bigger house on a bigger block you have to look in the older suburbs - the new ones are either tiny house with no land or expensive.

In my daughters school one of the parents has just bought the neighbours backyard for $7million.

They are just buying it to build a pool (I did suggest it would be better for us to build a townhouse on
