Debt
Friend emigrated to Australia 9 months ago. He borrowed £10,000 from a finance company to pay off various debts before emigrating. He was repaying this at a rate of approximately £340 per month, and has done so for the past year. It will take him another two years to repay the debt.
He has no intention of returning to the UK. What is his position if he stops repaying the debt?

Re: Debt
There was a bloke I knew in NZ who paid the mortgage of his house in the UK with a UK visa, he had no intention of paying the out standing balance of his visa card back and did a bunk.He did research prior to this and found out something along the lines of after 7 years if the debt has not been collected its wiped off, I may be wrong
Anyway, I think its better to pay up but thats me

Re: Debt
Am I the only person who read that as he would be a moron because he got into debt, and is thinking of not paying, not because he got into debt in the first place???

I suspect the term he has no "intention" of returning to the UK. I don't think anyone has the intention of returning. I'm sure if the debt is of a sufficient amount then they'll try and recover it.
