That's fantastic news Sophie. Congratulations.

I'm just about to start the DeFacto visa process and was wondering how long you have after being accepted before you have to enter Australia. If after being accepted, I only have 12 months in which to enter Australia, I think I'd better apply a bit later. I need to sort some things out before I apply.

I ask because I heard from someone that you have until 12 months after the application lands on their desk to enter the country. After 12 months, the visa no longer applies.

Congratulations again,

Ian

Hi Ian,
After receiving my visa, in Feb 2004, I only had until end of Nov 04 to enter Australia & I applied for my visa on 20th Jan 04, so I had about 9 months to enter Aus on a spouse visa.
Good Luck!

I've got until January 06 to enter - so jutst under a year from when I applied. As I understand it that is when you have to "first" enter Australia, but you are entitled to come and go as much as you like once you have entered.

Hi Sophie Louise,

Big congratulations!!! I responded to your thread back in January, and was wondering how your mum's getting on now? Is she coming to terms with what you want to do? We leave on the 14th March for Brisbane, so will hopefully see you at one of the famous Brisbane Girls Drinking nights!!
