Darwin - anyone live there ?

Hello,

Possible move to Darwin on the cards. Anyone care to enlighten me, what's it like ? Is the humidity too much, etc. Cheap food ? anything cheap ?

It's very hot. Half the year it's dry and the other half you geat spectacular thuderstorms and rain in the "wet" season.

It is vulnerable to cyclones, was devastated on Christmas in 1974.

I think there is some statitic about the greatest per capita beer drinking in the world, but this has calmed down after the "Come on Territorians, Lighten Up" campaign

It's close to some amazing country, Kakadu national park.

Huge harbour with good scuba diving, but like anywhere tropical you get box jellyfish and crocodiles too.

Lots of black fellas and bearded ZZ Top lookalikes in blue singlets.

I've been there twice and loved it. I could live there but I don't think my wife would like it. Also, don't expect a huge city, it's more like a medium sized town.
