currency exchange reccomendations please
hi
i need to transfer 40000 sterling to oz can anyone recommend a currency exchange company, or is it worth doing it through my bank. have been checking out different services on net but feel a bit nervous about using them.

Don't think many use their banks because they get much better rates through one of the above...
Don't worry about being asked for all sorts of documentation from any of the above; it's all part of identity checking and money laundering regulations...

I know everyone says that Ozforex has the best exchange rate, but Nationwide has given me the best consistently - 2.484 for the past few days (2.492 a couple of weeks ago), and no charges (this is on visa debit, and HSBC has given 2.44 as a comparison to this, plus 4 quid charge! 
). On the same days Ozforex was 2.473...
We've tranferred a bit through Ozforex and I've been taking out the max amount through Nationwide on a daily basis and sticking it in the bank, as it soon adds up.

thanks everyone, think i'll go with ozforex, interesting about nationwide but dont think i've got time to open an account there as i leave on tuesday.
