crying into my beer

Transferred money over December 2003 arrived here late January from UK ($2.35 to the £ then), lost a fortune with the exchange rate. Why is life so unfair?

Too right, looking forward all the way, especially as i've bought a gas guzzling big fat 4 wheel drive (well you've got to take advantage of the cheap fuel, haven't you?)

Hiya plumber,

I went down the route of buying a new car in the UK for the wife to learn to drive in & have to go to work.

It's the most expensive thing I have ever done. Long live second hand cars!

The wheels might falll off but at least it will go back on, and not cost you a fortune in depreciation.

Bye
Mark

$2.64 to the pound currently. Keep on rising baby.............

Ah, I remember going to Oz in 2000 when it was close to touching that magical $3 figure!

Was it really close to $3 in 2000? I went in 1998 and 2000 and the exchange rate seemed better in '98. Having said that, things seemed more expensive in 2000 with GST having been introduced.

i was also there a couple of yrs ago and it went above $3 !!!

if only i'd have looked into forward contracts back then. :(

It hit a peak in 2001 I think, I was there from September 2000 until August 2001. Got close to that magical $3 figure early 2001.

1998 was also a good year, probably better than 2000 but not as good as early 2001.

As soon as I emigrate I'm getting out of the financial services industry and into something vaguely interesting.
