Is there a general view amongst those of you already in Oz that Crime is worse in Perth than Brisbane?
I know peoples perception of crime and how it will affect them can vary but whats your opinion ?

House in Victoria Point was broken into, and the thieves got away with:
A Bar fridge
A carton of Beer
&
some fishing rods. (honestly, that was it ! )
Just goes to show the class of thieves we have in the area !
Well, it made me laugh
Even the thieves are only in it for the "Lifestyle"

A bit more crime in the area, but this time in Wynnum area:
16 motorists reported their vehicles having been stolen / stolen from, in the first week of May, but 13 of them had NOT locked the vehicle.
Police are considering fining people for NOT locking their cars !!
Police spokesman quoted: It is simply not good enough to assume that everything will be safe
Whats the world coming to when you can't even leave your car unlocked these days !!

I suppose after 14 years of reading all the Sussex crime reports each day I've got a bit hardened. But one thing I have learnt is that crime happens everywhere, in every country, and is completely random in choosing its victims.
One thing I have noticed here is that because the Australians are by nature a more insular race than the Brits, they fill their papers with more domestic news, and hence more minor crime reports; whereas the Brits like to read foreign news, and have no interest in the fact that Mabel Birch, 72, had a chicken stolen last night.(yes, i've can't remember the name, but the report was in the paper in Hobart the first week I was there - several paragraphs too )
Many crimes in the UK would just never make the papers cos people don't want to read them.
