credit rating
hello everyone
we were wondering if anyone new about credit rating in oz. are we able to take our current credit rating with us from the uk or will we have to start again?. does this also apply to any outstanding loan repayments or should we just try to pay these off before we go!!.many thanx

Hi,
Unfortunatley you cannot take your credit rating with you, one Oz bank has said to take 6 months bank statements with me prior to leaving the UK. You can also set up an Australian bank account once you have had your medicals requested. If paying money in before you go then a credit rating will be generated.
Not sure about the loans side we are just hoping to pay everything off before we go.

We have been advised that as soon as possible after arriving it is a good idea to buy something on the never never to start a credit rating. Two sets of friends have bought sofas etc within days of arriving to do this.
Also take documentary evidence form this country to show you've been a reliable payer!
