Re: Contributory Parent Visa - now sparkling lifestyle chat in Australia!!
Was reading some old posts from 18 months ago - newbies (who are now almost there or have their Visas and have made the trip Down Under) all saying what a great place this was for advice and support - shame how things can change!
I miss the sparkling wit and helpful comments and the advice pages are few and far between nowadays.

So if someone does need advice I suppose you won't reply because they're asking on the wrong forum?

Thanks in advance. At least I know that help is available if needed and I don't have to read all the vegemite nonsense, wherever that is.

Trouble is all the people that wrote about veg**** etc had all the answers you may need. The font of knowledge has dried up!

Thats fine, when we were going through the process, we got a lot of help and encouragment from some very nice people on here, we had a lot of laughs to keep us going through a very stressful time, and made friends with people who we will be meeting up with in Perth, PIPS. We have Visa and despite exchange rate will leave these shores as soon as house is sold.

So they're not reading this anymore then? And if they are, declining to help? Shame the rest of us on here don't know where they are to offer help. All because they don't want to put the chat on one thread and visa information on another?

Not sure if any of you that are on this side of the world are Brisbane/Gold Coast? I'm sure there were a couple somewhere.....anyway this is a shameless plug and an invite for anyone who is interested, Soapy is organising this years Christmas in July meet, which is a football match, Scotland v England, and a meet that goes on all afternoon and late into the evening. Its always a good laugh and we usually have 100 or more people turning out. So if anyone fancies a great day out, keep an eye on this thread for the exact date when the club confirm it.

The venue is a really friendly football club with a huge function room near Ashmore, north end of the Gold Coast

Yes they are still popping in occasionally, even tho they have reached their destinations and willing to help anyone who needs to do the same. The point is you need to have the light banter Veg versus Marmite debate to fill in the gaps whilst nothing is happening which happens often. The waiting room is a long one and needs a light approach and a sense of humour. We had a happy thread here full of characters until the separation, then we chose to move where we weren't so "moderated". People in Oz are still available for advice as well as a sense of humour and are very knowledgeable. We have the right to choose who we keep company with and we have!

Good to know that you all know enough people who know everything you need to know and don't need to find any more. I've never met someone who can teach me everything, I prefer to 'type chat' to as many people as possible. However we're all different so no matter.
