Yep, its a huntsman, not a big one though as others have pointed out.
For those of you who are paranoid about spiders, YES you do get them, you wont have them climbing out of the cracks everyday, but no one will reassure you that you wont see them. Anyway I dunno what the big deal is, its just a spider! They are part of life over here.

Although i'm not too bothered about spiders, I bet i'll have a disturbed sleep pattern tonight now!
Starting to feel something tickling the bottoms of my trouser legs...

We have a pic somewhere of one that was in our shed, a bit blurry, but around the size of a biro. I'll have to see if I can find it .

Re: Could this be my first Huntsman?
I saw my first redback tonight - then I saw my first squashed redback - fortunately I was not at home.
I've been told that the huntsman keeps the redbacks away which is why I just catch them and put them outside. I don't know if this is true or not, but as someone who used to hate spiders in the UK, I've got used to them very quickly. They are really easy to catch, with a glass and postcard, unlike the Wolf spider which has obviously got better eyesight and can easily outmanoeuvre a slow moving glass.
Regards
Alistair

Hi,
Oh my god. We are hoping to be in Newcastle NSW in a month and I have been to a hypnotherapist twice now for spiders and hasnt worked stll terrified and am sh**ing myself even more now.
I think I remeber Mereweather from our visit two years ago, is this near Newcastle? How are you finding the place?

Hi, I am really frightened of spiders too. I often wonder what I will do if I have one in my home when we get to oz. If I am alone and hubby is at work I just dont know what I will do, I cant squash them coz I am too scared and I cant pick one up with a lgass and piece of card so what can I do? :scared:
What will you do if you have one in your home or car etc....? I just wondered how people cope with them who are really scared like you and I?
People keep telling me I will get used to them but I don think I will, I am scared that one will be in my bedroom and I wont be able to sleep with worry or even something as silly as brushing my teeth I know I will never relax and contantly be on the look out for them
What choice do we have but to get very drunk every night to make us a bit more relaxed? I dont know how I am going to cope, yikesssss!!!
