Hi

I have had several shipping companies around to give me quotes as you can appreciate it is abit of a minefield as to which Company to go with.

The best quote I have had up to press is with John Mason Removals who are charging £3598 from Lancaster to Perth for a 20 ft container does this seem reasonable this does not include the AQUAS fee that you may at the other end.

I would be interested to know if anybody has managed to barter the shipping companies down being a Yorkshire lass I always like a bargin ha ha.

That seems reasonable to me. I paid more than that with PSS 6 years ago. You shouldn't be paying any more than 4k GBP in my opinion.

for sole use of a shipping container@20 feet i'd say thats fair, i bartered pickfords down by a fair chunk to £3500 or thereabouts for the same from preston to perth, also found insurance way cheaper at insure-your-move.com, worth a look!when do you go? we leave april!

we paid over £5000 for ours to come from Gloucestershire over 9 weeks ago, hmm still waiting for ours to arrive!!! that was with BG LINERS was told it would take up to 9 weeks ( settee whats a settee! )

my wife and i are perth bound later this year, we have just been quoted £4100 from PSS and £4700 from Crown Relocations. Both for sole use of a 20ft container but both these quotes include a full packing & unpacking service and include all fees & taxes. Would be interesting to find out what the AQUAS fee is. Good luck with the move

We got a few quotes and felt Crown Relocations gave us the best service and no hidden costs. They were not the cheapest but when we went back to them with our cheapest quote (John Masons) they matched it. They were fantastic, container delivered on the day they said it would. Nothing broken and they put up our beds for us and set up my little lad in his room to play his playstation. Couldn't fault them at all, would def recommend them.

Pickfords cost me £3800 for a 20ft container and were superb from start to finish.

They did quote me a ridiculous price for insurance. I went elsewhere for the insurance and managed to get it under half their quote.

We used Crown and we are currently waiting for the container to dock and have our goods delivered we had a 20ft shared container. The items are due in our house unpacked and where we want them, rubbish removed on the 26th of march
We paid £2750 all in.

AQIS is the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service - quarantine officers will inspect shipments passing through Australia's borders to check for risks of exotic pests and diseases to protect their agriculture industry and environment.

They will charge for this and as this is a locally based fee and is not a set rate (varies per inspection) then it generally cannot be included for and pre-paid in your movers quote.

We used Crown relocations and this WAS included in the quote but not all companies do! Best to check

Hi we are using john mason. We only shipping 200cubic feet so not much really. We were initially quaoted £1100 John Mason £ 1200ish Pickfords Alliance Pacific £something sily ( rude man on phone so was out of the equation instantly).

We rand John mason and informed them they were the highest and we had been quoted around £900 and could they match it they did and said they could come in at £800 so we said thank and went to pickfords they refused to match though they were the nicer person but hey money is money so we went with John mason and when packed they came in at £750.

They packed were friendly Gill who I deal with is very helpful I phone up with a question she answers nothing is too much trouble up to now. Wil let you know how they are on the other side.
