Default cost of shipping stuff

does anyone out there have any idea how much it costs to ship things from manchester to sydney. no furniture, just bits and bobs really, computer, desks, tv,clothes etc, or would it be better to just sell stuff here and buy from scratch when over there. only 2 of us so wouldn't be any hassle. any help is really appreciated

I've been investigating this matter during the last few days. It would seem that 3 cubic metres of stuff, packed by myself and shipped to a depot in Brisbane would cost about £700. Not including insurance.

We are shipping only personal effects too, clothes, computer, guitar, linen, crockery.... its 75 cubic feet and we got quoted from £500 - £690 plus a £900 one (rip off!)

We got Allied Pickfords to come around and work otu how much space we would need... then sent this info off to heaps of online places (they all have email addresses and send quotes)

here is a list of the ones we tried
Robinsons
Excess Baggage
Anglio Pacific
Bishops Move
Simpsons
Crown
Sterling
PSS
Baxters
AllFreight
Ballards

then we could choose which one did the best price, or the serviced we wanted and get them to match our lowest price.
We are using ALLIED PICKS for £500 / 75 cubic feet.
There have been a few threads in the last few days about this... search for shipping......

ALSO I dont think TVs from UK work in Aus. CHECK FIRST!!
There is a website.... someone used it in a link today or yesterday

Hope this helps

The firm I think I'll probably end up going with is called 1st Move. What I like the sound of is that they shrink wrap everything up in black plastic (I mean the whole lot together). Here's the link.
