Cost of schooling in SA?
Hi guys,
As the title says I would like to find out the cost of schooling in South Australia, both public and private schools.
I have tried a search but it just doesn't seem to churn up quite what I'm looking for.
I have also been on the education dept wesite with links to all the schools but they don't detail costs on their websites
If anyone can help with this or point me in the right direction.
Thanks,
ob

Re: Cost of schooling in SA?
Public schools are about $200 for primary, and $300 for High school (give or take $50).
Private can be anything from about $4000 upwards.

Hi Wendy,
Thanks for the reply. I take it this is per child per term?

Per child, per year.
I've just got the bill for my kids, high school is $285 and primary is $180. They give you until term 3 to pay the whole amount (well in public school anyway, not sure about private)

Re: Cost of schooling in SA?
I have just had my bill and primary is $350. I believe the local high school is over $500 - for the year. (for a public school)
Our school expects the balance to be paid before term 1 starts but I believe you can make arrangements.
The only private school that we have looked at is Pembroke (for year 8) and that worked out around $16,000 for the year excluding extras.

Can't speak for Wendy - although obviously I am but she does not live to the south of the city.
From my opinion the (primary) schools local to us, southern hills, are all mostly equally good and follow a very similar curriculum, they all have their individual focuses so you would need to see them on arrival to make a proper decision.
I only know about my local schools sorry

Getting muddled with where people live to ask Q's arent I. I even have a map on the wall so I can refer to the areas and get used to where places are when looking at house prices and locality of amenities x

My daughter goes to a Montessori school in the Northern suburbs (although she is in the mainstream education classes). It's a fantasic school - but no good to you if you are wanting southern ones

I think our schools expect the balance as soon as possible too, whether they get it or not is a different matter
I think if you are struggling to find it all at once, they have to make allowances but you are expected to pay it all before term 3.

Re: Cost of schooling in SA?
i live in the southern burbs
me kids went to public primary then to private high school
best thing i did
they love it and its great
private has cost about $5000 per kid per year
but i would say it was well worth it
eldest has just left school
he didn't do very well in exams but that wasn't the school that was him
the other one is doing brilliantly
what they have both got is..manners...good friends..good attitude...good self esteem
in private schools it cool to be clever and talented...in public it's not cool

Strongly believe private schools don't produce 'better' individuals.

Re: Cost of schooling in SA?
my kids both suffered the bullying thing in public schools here
my daughter went to Mitcham girls school for a year which has a great educational focus
but she was miserable there...lots of "sad' girls which got her down..
the folks she mixes with now are really nice and she is really happy
same with my son
