In Perth you could spend $2000 a year to $10/12,000. There maybe some schools a bit cheaper than that though.

Brisbane can be about similar prices. Catholic schools may be less, Christian Schools from around the $2-3,000 range, and some really good independant ones for $5-6,000.

Do private schools tend to be single sex? We were having a browse (for Perth) at the weekend and they nearly all seem to be single sex.

The more "exclusive" ones yes, usually single sex. The lower fees ones are generally co-ed. However, you'll need to get your name down for the more modestly priced schools really early as the waiting lists are HUGE.
