Cost of living in Sydney
Me and my wife will soon be moving to Sydney but we have no real idea about how much things cost over there. Can anybody give us a few ideas? We don't have any children so it's just the two of us. I'm especially interested in house rental costs, utility costs , food costs in supermarkets, etc. Basically, your general everyday costs you need to budget for.
Your help would be most appreciated.

We are a family of 3 (daughter eats very little!) and this is our outgoings per FORTNIGHT - Our rent is $310 per week but thats totally dependant on your area. For close to the CBD you would be paying a lot more than that for a 3 bed property.
AGL Gas........................................$30
Contents Insurance.........................$18
Optus (for two phone)......................$46
Motor Insurance & Breakdown.............$27
Integral Electricity............................$60
Telstra Phone & Broadband.................$50
Foxtel............................................ $35
Groceries........................................$ 320
Petrol............................................ $120

Re: Cost of living in Sydney
Costs are pretty much the same as here mate along with the wages. Flats in central Sydney are around the same price as suburban London and rents on a two bed flat in decent area are around $400-$500 per week -around 180-200 quid. Food and beer is similarly to the uk but eating out is much cheaper and beach costs nothing

Some things can be cheaper (for example, eating out), some things can be more expensive (for example, books - stoopidly expensive). All in all, we've found the cost of living in Sydney to be comparable to the cost of living in the UK.
