Hi all

I will be going to Emerald, QLD shortly and I'm trying to find out about bills and other household costs, say for 3 bed house. Council tax (or equivalent), water, gas electricity?
Any help appreciated.

Hi James, there are squillions of threads on BE covering bills etc and I am not sure we ever reached consesus and not sure we will on another thread. I have a three bed house but I have seen some people with bills three times the size of mine. Also utility costs, council tax bills can change so not sure having a very precise budget is good idea.

You won't be able to budget for absolutely everything, I would suggest another approach. What do you live on in the UK? (rhetorical question). Convert do AUD by multiplying by 2.5, if you have that to live on in Australia you will be fine, better than that and you will be better than fine.

$600-700wk should get you a townhouse maybe old house

most other items excluding alcohol will be similar to the city prices
