Cost of Living

Hi All

I am starting to research and complete state sponsorship form for Victoria and wonder if any of you can advise on any sites that can calculate the cost of living in Australia as compared to the UK.

thank you

Your single largest expense will be your rent, you can use www.domain.com.au to look at prices in the areas you would like to move to.

Very roughly, assume you will need around 2.2 - 2.5 times as many dollars to buy stuff as you need pounds in the UK.

So something that costs £10 will cost AU$22 - AU$25 in most cases. There are exceptions to this but overall you should be roughly right.

This applies to earnings too, if you currently earn £40,000 you should expect to earn AU$88,000 - AU$100,000.

Agree with BB. Though in Perth it is possibly a bit higher and getting worse.
