Quick question...in hindsight...would you have considered the move if you had to pay for it all yourself and never had the job already lined up?

If we had had to pay for it ourselves we probably wouldnt have come over simply due to lack of funds. And there's no way I would risk coming over without having a job lined up first. (I work in a very specialist industry)
