Default Cost of childcare in oz

Does anyone know roughly what the costs of childcare are in oz?? We are looking at going when Alex is just over 2yrs old. I cant seem to find much info on the net like the nurserie do here. We are going to Adelaide so if anyone knows specific to there that would be great.

It's been a few years since i used childcare but I believe it's around the $50 mark per child, per day here in Qld. Some of the childcare centres don't include nappies or food in these prices so you have to bring your own.
ABC childcare centres are the largest mob in Australia - could be worth checking out their website for further info ... http://www.childcare.com.au

It is cheaper than UK!!!

I pay 50$ for a 2 year old but get a rebate from family assistance which everyone is entitled to a percentage depending on joint income. So in effect it costs me about 35$ for the day. Don't know about adelaide but here on the susnhine coast you have to supply food yourself but the opening times are better 6.30am til 6pm. You have to pay for a full day - no half days.

My 3 year old attended an ABC centre in Perth - 5 days a week, all food included, $510 a fortnight.

Are they flexible also? I will be working different shifts every week so the days the kids will be in will vary from week to week. Has anyone found this a problem?

Thanks

look up this site
http://www.decs.sa.gov.au/
they have recently had the state budget and will be putting more money into it
look up sa gov on google, there's also cyh.com (child health, which is sort of like health visitors)

that seems reasonable to me, approx £100 per week or £20 per day all inclusive; we pay £40 per day at the mo in in the UK.

You really need to look at it as a percentage of your $ wages, not in direct comparison to the UK costs. I don't have kids myself, but I know quite a few Aussies at work that reckon chilcare is pretty expensive.

No details about Adelaide but it's $50 a day for our 2 year old here, we provide the food and nappies too.

I've heard bad things about ABC childcare (big on profit, short on care) but obviously everyone's mileage will differ. Our daughter is enrolled in a community care centre which, apparently, is less profit-orientated.
