Default Cosmetic Surgery

Does anyone have an opinion whether it would be better to have surgery in UK before we go, or in Oz once I get there?! I don't even know which websites to look at for reputable practices in Oz - I've been looking at Bupa in the UK but I've no idea on the medical system in Oz in comparison, and I thought maybe someone could offer some advice?

Mind you I wouldn't fancy the long flight on to Oz or UK after my surgery. (dental implants are massively expensive in the UK aren't they? I was once quoted for one, needless to say I haven't bothered yet!)

Has anyone had a breast reduction in Oz?

If you are coming to Sydney, I can recommend doctor tavakoli. I had a tummy tuck with him in December. Cost was about £4500 which is cheper than UK. If I had waited for another 6 months my health would have covered about £1k of it. Breast reduction also comes under health cover I think, not all ops do but I am sure thats one. Its next on my list .

Here is his web site.

Hi

My next door neighbour works for a cosmetic surgeron in Perth City somewhere, I could ask her about it if you wish, and see if they have a web site.

By the way I am having Laser Surgery on my eyes in August, to correct vision, thats costing $4900.00 and no health ins covers that.

God thats steep for laser eye, could fly back to UK have it done here and fly back for far less, unless you're a very complex case but still.

You also have more of a problem if something goes wrong and you obviously can't have follow up care.

No - I had a breast reduction in the UK about 3 years ago now - and the cost was 4,600.00 pounds privately. apparently it is much cheaper out here - but unfortuantely I couldn't wait

Hi Kimi

I had laser eye in April just before coming to Oz and it cost me 1400 british pounds.

I had it with Optical Express and would fully recommend it.

Never in my wildest dreams will I ever need a reduction but one quick question - don't they grow back again after a few years. Just heard that and wondered if it were true or a myth

My wife went to the doctors here in the UK for totally different reasons, the doctors asked out of the blue, would you like a boob reduction, quick as a flash she said no but if a tummy tuck was on offer.

Unimpressed doctor replied "No totally different operations",quick as a flash again my wife replied my "old man doesn't play with my tummy".
