Coomera-Milton commute advice
Hi everyone
Have a couple of interviews in Milton, one yesterday and wondered if there was any alternative to the stand for an hour train journey back (Milton to Roma Street, Roma Street to Coomera).
I.e. does anyone drive it? I know traffic is a nightmare.
Each way with the time lag between trains it is 1.5 hours, could I drive it in that time if I left at certain times of the day, i.e. about 615am there and 4pm back?
Any help would be appreciated?
Cheers
Sean

Cant help yet Sean, I'm heading to GC in 2 weeks to look for a rental, quite fancy Coomera.
So is the 6:15am train really that busy that you are standing all the way?

You wouldnt believe it mate. Because the traffic is so bad, everyone literally piles on public transport however it is usually on time. Just not enough trains or big enough stations.
6am is the first I think.
Take a clook at Coomera Waters when you get here, awesome place and only 6 minute drive to the station (takes hours from that point tho)
Give us a bell if you want a look around when you get here
Cheers

Re: Coomera-Milton commute advice
Myself and my husband do the journey most days from Coomera Waters to Milton in the car, with my husband then continuing on to Toowong.
I used to catch the train but as you say- it ends up a long journey. I used to walk from Roma Street rather than catching the Milton train and it took about 15 minutes.
Traffic can vary at different times in the morning- it rarely takes more than an hour but the latest I have left is at 7. Coming home can be a nightmare though- leaving at 4 and you are generally ok but if you leave much later than that then you can be sat in traffic for a long way.

Thanks Sean, Will be in touch if we need any more info :-) We are staying in Labrador for 10 days in September to have a look and find a place to live. Then have to head back to Sydney to pack up
Never mind the 6 minutes to the station, how far are the boozers?
CC thanks for the travel info, I think I will be sharing the travel between the car and the train. Work for me will be in or near to the Casino so South Brisbane is the closest Train station. Also Ilve been told there is parking at the Convention Center.

Everyone's different but IMO if you are intending to work in Brisbane long term I think you should live in Brisbane and drive to the beach on the w/e. The traffic will just get worse and might eventually drive you bonkers - its a long time everyday out of your life. Just my opinion of course - others may still think it is worth it.

In this case you could do a long detour via the Indooroopilly bridge (I have been doing this for a year to avoid the south east freeway - though it recently improved due to toll booth removal on gateway motorway).

How you finding the travel Sean?
I've done it for 2 weeks now and 9 times out of 10 I've been standing. Going to pick up a fold up stool this weekend.

I actually took a job in the west end eventually, I drive to work each day and set off about 6am and it takes about 50 minutes.
Couldnt stomach the armpit sniffing on the train each day! :0)

I think people who get on at Ormeu have more difficulties and those who get on at Beenleigh dont stand much of a chance at all.

Re: Coomera-Milton commute advice
I have been traveling from Coomera to Central (7.24am most of this time) for just over a year now and have only had to stand a handful of times and only when there has been a problem with the trains with two lots of people on one! I virtually always get a seat home too.
