Default Convert or not?

Hi All

House sale lolly has reached our Oz bank account. Bank rang and asked if we wanted it converted to $Aus at a rate of $2.55 to the £.

I'm crap at these things, any advice, ie hold in Sterling or convert now. Will the rate creap any higher, I know it's been hovering around the $2.50 for a week or so and although I'm crap at such matters I know it can go down as well as up

Anybody got any mates in the City, bit of insider dealings?!!!!!

Dont ask me, I'm a scardy cat when it comes to these things. I didn't buy a flat 2 years ago because I was convinced that the property prices wouldn't go up any more, If I'd had some guts and done it I would be £50000 richer now and not stuck here in the UK trying to save to go to Australia.

Come on people there must be some clever person out there who has an idea what is goin on, the exchange rate was 2.63 the other week

As much as I know about these things, I would have to agree. The trend is definitely heading down at the mo' and 2.55 looks quite attractive!
Sadly though Walla, I don't have any insider tips for you

Seems an OK rate for the moment Walla.

Personally I will be happy at anything above 2.5.

TT

Didn't someone post recently with graphs and analysis showing a general trend over the last 5 or 6 years that the rate always takes a bit of a dive in July and August and then picks up again in November / December?

I guess it depends if you need the dosh out there in the next few weeks - if so then I would say to change now. If like us you don't need it out there until Dec / Jan, I shall wait and watch the rate with interest - especially since more interest rates are expected here.

Only my thoughts!
