Default Contracting in Australia

I've just heard that within the next couple of months there will be changes to the employment laws of Australia (and New Zealand?) to make it easier to allow contractors to come in from abroad.

Does anyone know anything about this or can you offer any insight into contracting (IT / credit risk) in Australia. This sounds very appealing to me and would allow my family to sample life in Australia without making a permanent move at the outset. Does anyone know if the same applies to New Zealand?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The only employment changes coming up I am aware of only affect Pacific islanders performing seasonal farming work. If you could provide a link to your source then we may be able to help.

Probably not the most reliable source - I emailed a recruitment consultant in Australia asking about contracting and he said that things would be made easier in the next couple of months due to certain changes in employment restrictions. He didn't provide more detail but I'll ask for more when i write back to him.
