Confused about the NZ LTBV?

What is this rule change in NZ that has obviously angered so many people. Sorry - I should really post on the migration board but don't really like posting there!

It clearly has had an impact on a lot of NZ hopefuls like Guitar doctor, and has impacted the hoped-for entire lifestyle of many.

Re: Confused about the NZ LTBV?

Sorry I missed answering to this earlier.

It's not a rule change, it's a change of interpretation of the rules.

Policy clearly spells out what is considered to be of benefit to NZ, and NZIS Business Unit have then raised the stakes a bit higher by adding the word "significant" in front of "benefit".

This "allows" them to decide each case very subjectively.

This is wrong, they're shaping policy without the mandate to do so. With stricter management, they'd sort out this branch quickly and we could all get on with things.

The case officers are now driven by personal interpretation rather than consistent standards.

Frustrating really, as the goal posts seem to move back and forth depending on which case officer you get. Still best to play to your strengths and exceed the minimums.
