Computing Support Technican - HELP am i qualified for a TRA

I've been working as a computing support technician for 6+ years but on 2004 i switch jobs to being a Software Engineer up until now. What do you guys think? do i have a sound chance at getting that TRA approval?

Also what are the keys things/experience that the TRA wants from a computing support technician since i am not that familiar with the standards they have in OZ

Thanks! :scared:

I might be wrong here - but i think your skills are more likely to be assesed by the ACS rather than TRA. I am sure someone out there will correct me if i am wrong !!

TRA do assess Computing Support Technician but you only get 40 points. I'm not sure about their standards either, as they want more paperwork than you can shake a Brazilian rain forest at make sure you've got lots of it.

That's correct. However if you have another diploma or degree you may be able to get a Vetassess assessment in a 40 or 50 point occupation more easily - there will still likely be a problem getting to the pass mark unless you have an Australian relative to sponsor you.

Just curious...just how much paperwork did you have to do on your TRA application
Thanks!

Loads! I think in total there was about 40 pages (inc. the application form itself). Copies of certificates, references and a really detailed document on how to be a hairdresser. Wife said by the time they finished reading it they could probably cut and style their own hair :D

I did prepare an application for computing support technician, and included copies of my course work, copies of the course structures etc and copies of all certificates but as I said before our agent said we didn't need it. I may send it off when we get over to Australia just to see if would be accepted. Still don't know whether I want to continue a career in IT when I get out there anyway.
