Company recommendations wanted - Perth
I am now fed up with my house falling down around my ears as so am after having a second storey added and a concrete pool. I am really struggling to find any companies even vaguely interested so has anyone got any recommendations for either project ?
ps - I've already contacted Scossie re pool

Re: Company recommendations wanted - Perth
My friends have recently added a second storey and used The Modern Group. Apart from a few niggles I think they were pretty happy with the result.

We had an extention put on a little while ago (not a 2nd storey) the modern grp quoted $55K, we got a guy in that someone recommended and he did the same job for $39K - His name was Alan Woodward ( and I see he has put a second storey on a house down the road from us) if you are interested I could do some searching and find his details.

I did see a specialist company doing some work round the corner from me on pretty large single storey house, it was quite a fitting name for the company as it implied they only did 2nd storey add ons, something like "Going Up" or "add a floor" etc I will try and remember to drive by tonight and see if there scaffolding is still there.

That would be great if you could - I'm not sure he'd travel down this far though but worth asking.

Someone in our street had a sort of second floor/loft conversion thingy done, all looked pretty good and was done relatively quickly, done by Dale Alcock, who I have heard mixed reviews about, seemed like although you have someone project managing it you really need to put the pressure on them to get things flowing along.

If you could find out the name of the other one though - that would be great, thanks

I dont know anything about them and am purely going on walking past this one place nearby.
If you do make any progress with them, id be interested to hear what you think and what sort of $'s things work out at. I know someone who would consider that sort of reno over clearing the block and starting from scratch.
Good luck,
Steve

Hi, Sorry for the delay, I couldnt find the house (good I guess that it blended in even after the reno's) I found it at the weekend whilst walking back from the shops, it was a company called addspace, I just found them here, www.addspace.com.au

For info - Summit home improvements and Dale Alcock do not travel as far as Mandurah, The Modern Group say that they do not do 2nd storeys and I'm waiting to hear back from Addspace. Have heard that someone called 'Glossop' is good but have no more info than that !!

Sounds like there might be a gap in the market down your way, start something up (maybe call it "BE Roof Raisers") bound to be plenty of folk on here that would love to come over and be involved.

You're right you know. They reckon that home improvements are the way to go anyway as the property market will cool. If you get an expat involved in each stage together someone could stand to make a fortune !!
