Commutable Adelaide 'burbs with acreage?

Can anyone shed any light on suburbs of Adelaide, commutable to the city (no more than 45 mins to an hour), that are known for acreage properties?

I'm not sure if anyone lives in Adelaide anymore. ;)

Maybe Sparkly will be around soon. :fingerscrossed:

How much acreage were you thinking of?

North of the city, you can head to the city on Port Wakefield road, Port Expressway and then South Road - Or straight down Main north Road from some suburbs but time of day will affect journey times. Could look around Two Wells, Gawler, Barossa towns, etc.

Currently doing Grange to Rowland Flat in an hour if you look them up on the map :)

Thanks Sparkles. Very helpful. Was thinking of looking around Barossa way but wasnt sure of suburbs or commute times!

Not looking for masses of land, just distant neighbours!!!

What is your budget? You can easily get to acreage in less than an hour from the CBD in all directions except for West. East takes you into the Hills. Hahndorf towards the city will be at premium, but past Hahndorf, prices start to drop. Stirling is a lovely area and has some lovely period properties. You don;t need to go far from Stirling to get some acreage.

As Sparkles says, you could do CBD to the Barossa in less than an hour. I don't know that area very well.

DOwn South, now the new Southern expressway is open, you could easily get to Mclaren Vale/Flat in well under an hour - some gorgeous areas around there and plenty of lovely wineries too;)

Just to confirm, you mean driving in peak time and parking in the city ?

My friends are building in Mt Barker and he commutes into the city. About 45 mins on the bus. They've got a sizable block but I would imagine from what they've said there would be much bigger land properties around still at reasonable prices. Amazing views from their house!

Adelaide strikes me as one of those places where
you can be on acreage yet get to the city perhaps faster than say in Sydney or Melbourne.

There is a life to be had anywhere in Australia if it suits. ;)

Main North Road in peak hour is a killer. If looking up this side of the city, I would probably look more towards places you can get to from Salisbury Highway or Port Wakefield Road. Or even around Gawler, then get the train in.

Parking in the city is expensive and a pain. Although you can park up at the Entertainment Centre and catch the tram in.

I would probably veer more towards Sterling and those area's personally.

When I lived in Tanunda, I used to do Tanunda to Gepps Cross in 45 minutes.
