Re: Commonwealth Games

OK, the first event in the Commonwealth Games is under way.

As a bit of fun, how many more gold medals will Australia win than England?

I'm going for 20.

Best regards.

Try again pateln - no spread betting here, you can only choose 1 number!

Re: Commonwealth Games

i seem to be an optimist by the looks of it

so I go for 33 GOLDS

by the way....are there actually more than 33 events in the 1st place???

I assuming that the number of gold medal available to be close to 100!!

...i get this feeling i have over cooked it

newstartnz Jul 27th 2002 7:01 pm

Hey! Maybe I shot too low with 21 but I guess it's against the rules to change now! See the 1998 results:

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - Final medals table at the 16th Commonwealth Games:

Country Gold Silver Bronze Total
Australia 80 60 58 198
England 36 47 53 136

Whingeing Pom alert !

A bloke wrote into the BBC yesterday making a good point. Basically its this :-

Australia is better than us at Swimming
GB is better than Australia at Track & Field

There are DOZENS of different ways of swimming 100 metres (breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle etc etc etc) but only 1 way of running 100 metres !

Therefore Australia is better placed to win a load more medals than GB.

Plus you are also cheating by sending over a swimmer whose feet are SO BIG they are virtually flippers !!! (Thorpe with his size 13's) Surely there are regulations against this !

Ha ha !

;-)
